Welcome to Costa Almeria Tours
We are a bespoke tour company based in Almeria, in the most South-Easterly province of Spain, offering the best in day and evening trips, fiestas and sightseeing tours to reveal to you the magic in this remote corner of Andalucia.
We will take you to undiscovered corners of this little known and untouched area of Spain - still full of the vibrancy of the Spanish way of life, and still kept secret from most.
We are happy to take small groups of family and friends for excursions to enjoy the magnificent surroundings and culture that the area has to offer, (as well as the occasional coach parties), so that everyone who travels to our shores can enjoy the experience that they require.
So much of the local beauty is rarely seen by travellers to this often forgotten area of desert-like beauty, but we will reveal the joys...
Join us and discover Almeria as it has always been - an historical and cultural mix of volcanic brutality, harsh rural farming and partial desert landscape, enjoying unique indigenous species, flora and fauna rarely seen elsewhere, and a geology studied at the highest levels; developing over millions of years - the serene and natural beaches and jagged mountaintops with incomparable views will remain in the memory forever.
Local populations were decimated in the 1960s and 1970s as people were forced into mass immigration from rural mountain areas, as drought set in, river beds ran dry and the old industrial mines closed.
Food specialities abound, in spite of the harsh agricultural conditions for growing and seafood has a special place in the hearts of local chefs (whether in family homes or in restaurants), with knowledge passed down through generations from those who worked and strived over 'recetas' using local and seasonal produce.
Yet, the old traditions have not disappeared, as people are now returning to their homeland and abandoned stone cottages to resurrect the fiery fiestas, memories and historic popular culture, following years away in economic exile.
The film industry has newly embraced the backdrops of Almeria's inimitable scenery captured in the past on hundreds of iconic movies including David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia and Sergio Leone's spaghetti western trilogy, begun with The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, starring Clint Eastwood and we can visit the old cinema studios.
This is real Spain, hidden away, but never forgotton - once seen - join us in the discovery.
Day and evening trips to the regular fiestas held each year will be catered for, including Aguilas Carnival in February/March, Lubrin Gastronomia Fiesta in October, Three Kings Day in January, olive picking in November/December and many local fiestas throughout the spring and summer months– please call (0034) 646 760 389 for details of fiesta trips available during your stay or check back at the website to see the latest updates.
